The event’s theme was “Building Resilience,” reflecting our focus on empowering graduates to overcome challenges and succeed in their future endeavors. The ceremony was attended by over 255 people, including family members, friends, and community supporters.

The highlight of the evening was the presence of special guest speakers, including honorable government officials and ministers. These distinguished guests delivered inspiring speeches, encouraging the graduates to embrace resilience in the face of adversity. Their words of wisdom and motivation left a lasting impact on everyone present.

Action 4 Humanity made a significant contribution to the event by providing scholarship money to high school graduates and gifts to university graduates. Additionally, they generously gifted each graduate with a certificate of appreciation. The evening was further enriched by a delicious dinner and vibrant cultural entertainment, allowing attendees to celebrate together and enjoy the sense of community.
We also value the presence of Mount Royal University and Bow Valley College, whose representatives provided valuable guidance and information to high school graduates, helping them navigate their future educational paths.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors, partners, and volunteers, whose support made this event possible. A special thank you goes to our sponsors: Calgary Foundation, Somali Canadian Society of Calgary, Alberta Government, Canadian Race Relations Foundation, Umoja Mosaic Community, Burns Memorial Fund, and Minuteman Press. Refugee Sponsorship and Settlement https://action4humanity.ca/refugee-sponsorship-and-settlement/ Thu, 22 Oct 2020 07:00:13 +0000 http://demo.ovathemes.com/asting/?p=19

The UNHCR estimates there are more than 26 million displaced refugees around the world. Children represent a significant percentage of this number. Many of these refugees live in an uncertain situation for years if not decades. Refugees are some of the most vulnerable populations around the world.

Refugee resettlement provides protection and a permanent solution to a small percentage of refugees every year. Resettlement mainly is provided by countries party to the Geneva Convention including Canada.

Besides government-led settlement programs, Canada has a private refugee sponsorship program where certain Canadian organizations and individuals support the resettlement of refugees in Canada. This is a unique and well-respected program around the world and has helped refugees from all corners of the world.

In partnership with other organizations and individuals involved in the refugee sponsorship program, we would like to become a sponsoring organization and support the resettlement of refugees in Canada. Some of the programs we will sponsor refugees under are the Community Sponsorship Program and the Sponsorship Agreement Holders program.
